Our loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2011 in Poplar, MT. She was born on September 16, 1944 to Rose No Breast and Mathew Eagle Boy in Poplar. She was raised in Chelsea and attended school in Poplar, MT. Irene later attended schools in Roswell, NM, United Tribes in Bismarck, ND, and Missoula, MT.

During her lifetime, Irene was employed as a gun inspector, bartender, and was employed at Poplar Hospital, Pops Pizza, Indian Health Service, and part-time for the Green Thumb Program. She retired in 2006. Irene loved animals and would feed the homeless cats and dogs around Poplar.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Althea (Allen) Eagle Boy-Wolff of Poplar; three brothers, Floyd Eagle Boy and Arnold Eagle Boy of Poplar and Adrian (Peggy) Ireland of Williston, ND; two sisters, Rita Brown of Wolf Point, MT and Gloria Buckles of Poplar; and adopted sister, Debbie Shields of Poplar; her adopted daughters, Stephie (Richard) Eagle Boy of Wolf Point, Marcella (Chad) Kirn, Dallas Eagle Boy, Pauline Boxer, Linda Lezard, Michelle Youngman all of Poplar, Angeline Red Star of White Bear, Saskatchewan, Canada, Candace Spotted Bird of Brockton, MT, Michelle Buckles, Jordice Ferguson, Justine Shields, Connie Fast Horse, Gerarda Talks Different all of Poplar; and her adopted sons, Doyle (Caroll) and Russell Black Thunder, Jeff Stump, Lonnie Iron Bear all of Poplar and Nate Long Hair of Fort Kipp, MT. The extended families of Irene: Rose (John) Morsette, Johnson, Kidder, Red Eagle, Iron Bear, Sparvier, American Horse, Ireland, Lamberts, Long Hair, Spotted Birds, Hopkins, Buckles and Parshall Families and many others not mentioned from the Eagle Boy-No Breast Families.
“No matter if you were at bingo or going around town feeding stray animals, you always were a happy woman with such a beautiful smile. You would give the shirt off your back if someone needed it and have a gleam in your eye when at the machines . . .”

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Maku Wanica and Tasunka Hota Win; her paternal grandparents, Wanbdi Hoksina and Owanka Duta Win; her parents, Mathew and Rose Eagle Boy; seven sisters, Mary Turning Heart, Mayme Red Eagle, Savannah Eagle Boy, Cynthia Sparvier, Isabelle Kidder, Flora Eagle Boy, and Sandra Red Elk Adams; three brothers, Melvin Eagle Boy, Nelson Eagle Boy and Lewis “Willie” Eagle Boy.

A Wake will be held Friday, May 27 with evening services at 7 p.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center. Her Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point is in charge of arrangements.
