Irene Josephine (Youpee) Turns Plenty
Irene Joseph (Youpee) Turns Plenty, age 36, passed away at her home, Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in Billings, Montana after a brave battle with cancer. She was born June 21, 1973 in Williston, ND. Irene attended school in Poplar, MT, Miles City, MT., Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR and Fort Peck Community College in Poplar, MT.
She was active in the Kids Ministry at the Praise Center in Billings. She was a faithful member of the Mountain Crow Worship Center in Pryor, MT. Irene was employed by various businesses in Billings; she was also a flagger for the BIA Road Dept in Pryor. Irene was a very creative person and enjoyed arts and crafts and made all types of gifts for family and friends. She loved her nieces, nephews and family dearly and enjoyed seeing them happy. Her efforts for them were from the heart.
Irene is survived by her husband, John Turns Plenty of Pryor, MT; her children, Robert Felter Jr.and Pammy Jo Felter of Riverton, WY and Elijah Turns Plenty of Pryor; her parents, Bonita and John Youpee of Poplar, MT; brothers, Lance (Mandy) Ricker of Pryor, MT, Arnold (Arden) Reddog of Spokane, WA, Leslie (Carsareena) Reddog of Great Falls, MT, Pierre Youpee Jr. of Poplar, MT, Cliff Youpee of North Carolina, Kalijah Good Soldier of Billings, MT, Corey Youpee of Poplar, MT and John Myrick of Wolf Point, MT; one sister, Tiffani (Mervin) Hale of Wolf Point, MT and her adopted sister, Lucinda Fast Horse of Poplar; Pierre Youpee, whom she claimed as her dad, of Poplar; aunts Doris Reddog of Wolf Point, Rhea Starr, Verlene Johnson Reddog, Kara Reddog Hopa, Estelle Reddog and Lauren Reddog, all of Poplar, Joanne Browning, Ilona Jo Wilson and Georgia Red Eagle all of Poplar and uncles Rick Hawk of Leavenworth, KS, Maynard Hawk of Poplar and Terry Youpee of Great Falls, MT; her special little ones, Sunni Ricker of Poplar, Sanai Ricker, Lance Ricker Jr. and David Ricker of Pryor and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Laurence and Irene (Red Elk) Reddog; paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Josephine (Youngman) Youpee; one sister, Sunni Youpee; aunts Pamela Reddog and Carol Reddog and uncle James Reddog.
A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Poplar Cultural Center followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Pastor J.R. Boyd will be officiating.
