Jake David Martin, age 51, of Poplar, MT passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Poplar Community Hospital.

Jake was born June 4, 1959 in Poplar to Thomas and Ruth (Bigtalk) Martin.

He enjoyed root digging, attending Pow Wows, spending time with family and friends, working on cars, and firefighting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruth; and two brothers, Samson and Allen; grandparents, Jacob and Julia Ireland Martin, and Harry and Lucy Demarrias Big Talk; grandmother, Jesse; uncles, Jasper Martin, Matt Big Talk, Oran White Hawk, and Steven Big Talk; and aunts, Virginia Big Talk and Joan Fast Horse; cousins, Max Lone Bear, and Aberham.

Jake is survived by his wife and long companion, Martha F. Eagle of Poplar; his children, Karrie J. Martin of Poplar and husband, David Loveless of Danville, IL, and Jacqueline Lynnette Smoker of Glasgow, MT; adopted children, Crystal Eagle, Glenna Eagle, Autumn Reed, and Staetin Eagle; and many, many grandchildren; three brothers, Sylvester (Patty) Martin and Leo Martin, and David Martin of Cannon Ball; two sisters, Bernice Martin and Betty Martin; half-sister, Martha Black Dog; nephews and nieces, Sylvester Samson Hill, Lawrence, Thomas, Billy Lewis Youngman, Theresa and Heather Youngman – Crystal Youngman, Robert Eder, Emily Martin, Roxane Eagleman, Suzette Eagleman, Richard Eagleman, Lydia and Kurtis Chaser, Tina and Heather Jones and children, Ladonna Blackdog, Bobby and William Blackdog; aunties and uncles, Nelson and Irene Martin, and children, Craig and Karan Cain, Adelbert Lone Bear Jr., Marty Lone Bear, Roberta Lone Bear, Gerald Lone Bear, Daryl Lone Bear, Delphine, Lone Bearand, Victor Fast Horse and children, David Fast Horse, Dion Fast Horse, Dirk Fast Horse, Dawn Fast Horse, Arlie and Gloria Fast Horst-Diserly and children, Marvin Fast Horse, Randal Birthmark, Frank Diserly, Diane Diserly, Dina Diserly, Casper Demarrias, Ethelene White Hawk, Vicky, Edda, Cecia, Bellann, and Dephine, all of Fort Yates, ND and Cannon Ball; and numerous in-laws.

A Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 15 and his Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 16 all at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
