James Alexander, 46, of Wolf Point, Montana, died on May 17 in Billings after a brief illness. He was born November 21, 1975 to Orin C. and Suzanne Greufe Alexander in Williston, N.D. He grew up in Poplar, Montana and Lewiston, Idaho.
He married Cassie Gibbs, with whom he had a child, Lita (Alec) Alexander. He was remarried to Alana Spotted Wolf. Their children include twin Courtney, Bayzel, and Ryan Alexander. His other twin daughter, Natalie Rose Alexander, and a nephew, Ryan Russell Alexander, died in childhood. He is survived by his grandmother, Myrna Greufe, his mother, Suzanne (Courtney) Smith, his twin brother, Orin, brother, Ryan, and sister, Rose Lynn Clevenger (TJ), nieces Shontel Shaw, Adreanna Alexander, Grace and Sandra Clevenger, Chelsea and Tina Belle Alexander, and nephew Isaiah Alexander. Other close family include his auntie, Feryl Greufe, Butch Bear, Anita Bauer, Kathleen Ventura and Linda Atchico of Poplar and Sherman Alexander of Box Elder and his special uncle, John Grainger. His paternal family from Rocky Boy, Montana, are the Alexanders, Dennys, Daychilds, Windy Boys, and Favels. His extended family includes numerous cousins, uncles and aunts.
James was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold Greufe, cousins, Eric Craft, Royce Baker, and Sherry Jean Baker, and aunt, Judy Brown. His paternal aunts and uncles, who preceded him in death are Allen Alexander, Curtis Alexander, Ila Denny, Mary Rose Denny, Elvira Daychild, Barbara Daychild, Kenny Alexander, and Milton Alexander, and grandparents, Fred and Mary Small Alexander.
James had a strong – if slightly devious – sense of humor. He was generous and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed creating Native American arts. He will be missed.
Services will include a visitation Monday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral on Tuesday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. the Poplar Assembly of God church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at a local food bank or RiverStone Health Hospice, Billings, Montana. James’ family would also be blessed if mourners fed a meal to a homeless person.
