Jarid DeWayne Fast Horse went to rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from his home in Brockton, Montana. Jarid was born to the late Gordan Fast Horse and the late Darla Jean Belgarde on March 15, 1985.
As you all know, life is hard at times, but we have moments that make up for it that seem to erase the difficult times and get us through the future and keeps us strong. Jarid had some of those memorable moments that he talked about frequently. Jarid graduated from the Brockton High School in 2004, a time he was thankful for to be walking down the aisle to receive his diploma. But before the end of his high school year when he was a Senior, he was part of the Brockton Warriors Class C basketball team who conquered the undefeated Class C Big Sandy high school basketball team and took home the trophy for State Class C Basketball Champions.
Jarid is known by his teammates as being a gentle giant at 6.0’ who was very quiet, always smiling and laughing and pushing his teammates to do their best. He was good at being under the basket and getting rebounds while being an essential player to hold down two of Big Sandy’s toughest players during that game. He was offered a full ride scholarship to the United Tribes College the same year along with some of his other teammates. Jarid unselfishly felt he needed to be home so he returned to Brockton. What an exciting senior year to talk about with your children and your family and friends.
Another huge event for Jarid was meeting the mother of his children, Mallory Youpee, whom he shared a life with for 13 years. After this was the birth of their 4 children; Wanda Lou Fast Horse, Jarid Dewayne Fast Horse Jr., Preston Lee Fast Horse, Phillip Bon Fast Horse and Anna Two Bulls whom they shared. Jarid was a loving and kind father to his children. Jarid had a big heart when it came to children other than his own. When you needed a babysitter, Jarid could always be counted on.
Many of his family and friends will always remember him by his kindliness and gentle spirit. Something we will all surely miss in this world by those who shared their time with him. Even when Jarid was angry, he would still be silent or soft with his words. Jarid has a lot of love for his family and friends. Jarid seemed to always want the environment to be happy around him so he did his best to enterain his friends and family. If he could make someone laugh or smile, Jarid was silent.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordan Fast Horse and Darla Jean Belgarde; his paternal grandparents, Melinda Shields and Mike Fast Horse Sr.; his maternal grandparents, DeWayne Belgarde, Helen Rattling Thunderand, Esther Buck Elk, Britton Fast Horse and Darlene Lonefight; great grandfather Ernest Belgarde and great grandma Rita Red Eagle Belgarde.
He is survived by Mallory Youpee and his children, Wandalou Fast Horse, Jarid Fast Horse Jr., Preston Fast Horse, Phillip Fast Horse, and Anna TwoBulls, all in Brockton; 2 sisters, Cara Fast Horse of Brockton and Tosheena Follette of Wolf Point; 1 brother, Stanley (Felisha) Crowe Jr. of Helena, MT; his step-dad, Stanley Crowe III; grandparents, Julian Shields, Kermit Belgarde, RaeJean Belgarde, Judy Johnson, Leonard Snow Rattling Thunder; 2 aunts, Michelene Fast Horse and Lucinda Spotted Wolf; 3 uncles, Michael (Sandy) Fast Horse, John Fast Horse, and Clarence Fast Horse and step-mom Georgia Wetsit.
Extended families include the Rattling Thunder family, the Belgarde family, the Red Eagle family, the Bearhill family, the Johnson family, the Lonebear family, and the Walking Eagle family.
A private family wake will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2020 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at Fort Kipp Cemetery.
