Jeannie Amelia Culbertson Cooper, nickname “Cubby” passed away at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, Montana at age 89, on October 24, 2013 due to old age and multiple illnesses. She now has gone to rejoin her Parents Margaret and Sam Culbertson and all the relatives who preceded her passing.
Jeannie was born in Poplar, Montana on May 7, 1924, the only girl out of the three children. Her eldest brother Sam Jr. passed away two decades ago and her youngest brother Dale is presently resided in California. She lived and attended schools in Poplar until her family moved to Arizona prior to her high school graduation. After graduating high school in Winslow Arizona, Jeannie married Gail Cooper at age sixteen. The couple had three children, Lonnie, Margaret, and Johnnie Cooper. At present, Lonnie is the only surviving child who lives with his wife Michelle in Poplar Montana. After divorcing Gail, Jeannie moved to California in the Forties and resided there for most of her life until moving back home to Poplar in 2011. Being a Recovered Alcoholic, she dedicated her life to help others by becoming an Alcoholic counselor and established multiple AA clubs. Through her tireless efforts that spanned over forty decades, numerous individuals were helped. A fun loving and caring person, Jeannie loved singing and dancing. Her talents lead her into a career of performing arts. She appeared in TV commercials, acted in a TV movie named ”There Must Be a Pony” with Elizabeth Taylor and Robert Wagner, and a motion picture named “The Trial of Billy Jack”. Jeannie was full of life and loved her friends and families. She completed her life circle from Poplar to Poplar via Hollywood. Jeannie will be missed by her friends and families.
Visitation will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar.
