John “Bud” Boe 75 Of Hamilton Mt

June 14, 1938 — October 7, 2013

Hamilton – John Thomas “Bud” Boe, 75 of Hamilton passed away of natural causes October 7, 2013 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Hamilton.

He was born June 14, 1938 in Osakis, MN to the late Rev. Thomas and Eva Boe.  After high school in Lake Mills, Iowa, Bud joined the US Marine Corps where he served four years, part of which was in Italy.  Upon returning to the states in 1962, he met and married Karen Nelson of Wolf Point, MT.  That fall Bud and Karen went to Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, where Bud received a BA in History.  Bud and Karen had one daughter, Katherine.

Bud loved to fly and was a charter pilot and flight instructor for many years.  In 1976, Bud switched careers and began selling specialized welding alloys for Rockmount Research & Alloys Inc.   His territory was North and South Dakota, and a bit of Minnesota.  He and his family resided in Bismarck, North Dakota for over 20 years.  Due to illness, Bud & Karen retired and moved to Hamilton, Montana in 2000.

Music was a very important part of Bud’s life.  He enjoyed playing the piano and singing in choirs and special groups.  Bud was an eagle scout and forever cherished time spent in the mountains.  Bud enjoyed two summers as a blister rust crew boss in Glacier Park, where he lead pack trains filled with tools and supplies into the backcountry to facilitate rust eradication efforts.  In the more recent years, Bud enjoyed camping with family, visiting on the patio enjoying his yard and beautiful views of the Bitterroot Valley.  He treasured his time with family.

The most important thing in life to Bud was his relationship with the Lord.  He deeply desired that all his family and friends would know the Lord and realize that a relationship with God is the most important thing in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eva Boe.

He is survived by his wife Karen Boe of Hamilton, MT; daughter, Katherine and her husband John Nelson of Kamiah, ID; 2 granddaughters and 3 sisters.
