John D. “Lucky” Christian, age 52, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, MT.
He was born April 30, 1956 in Monterey Park, CA to Clarence H. and Helen LeCaine Christian.
On November 26, 1999 Lucky married Cindy Tollefson in their home in Wolf Point.
Lucky served in the US Army, 1980 through 1983, and was a member of the Warrior Society. For seven years he was a Juvenile Judge and worked for Ft. Peck Tribal Law and Justice in different capacities for over fifteen years. Lucky dedicated his life to helping children. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his shop.
Lucky is survived by his wife, Cindy of the family home; son Leif (Sandy) Pillsbury of St. Charles, IL and grandchildren, Katy, Hayley and Brant; daughter Carrie (Hunter) Christian of Wolf Point, MT; granddaughter Avalon Dreem of Wolf Point, MT, granddaughter Tristin BuckElk of the family home, whom he was raising; step-children, James (Carol) Martell of Wolf Point, MT, Jonathan Martell of Oregon, Mike (Christine) Martell of Havre, MT and Candace Martell of Billings, MT; sisters, Barbara Fast Horse of Wolf Point, MT, Claire (Arthur) Meyer of Brookfield, IL, Peggy Ricker of Wolf Point, MT, Donna Mae Ricker of Wolf Point, MT, Jackie (Adrian) Perry of Ft. Kipp, MT, Laurie Japp of Spokane, WA, and Sissy St. Germaine of CA; brothers, Brent Wilkins of Wolf Point, MT, Ronald Ricker of Wolf Point, MT and Thomas Christian of Poplar, MT; Aunt Beryl (Robert) Jordison of Moose Jaw, Sask, Uncle Phillip (Olive) Magnan of Carson City, CA and numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence H. Christian and Helen LeCaine; brothers, Clarence “Bonzie” Christian, Jr., Arnold Ricker and Terrance St. Germaine; a sister, Betty Ricker and many good friends.
A Family Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Poplar Cultural Center, Poplar, MT. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Poplar Cultural Center, Poplar, MT with full Military Honors. Interment will follow at Poplar City Cemetery. Ed Halvor will officiate.
