John B. (Johnnie) Johnson, Jr., age 91, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.

John B. Johnson, Jr. was born on July 20, 1917 in Wolf Point to John and Delia (Ketcher) Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in Wolf Point. Johnnie worked at the Fort Peck Dam and later entered the U.S. Army Air Corp. served as an airplane mechanic during WWII. His tour of duty was overseas in Iwo Jima. He was honorable discharged in 1945.

He returned to NE Montana and married Dorothy Belcher in September of 1949 in Miles City, MT. They lived south of Wolf Point on the farm and ranch on Sand Creek.

Johnnie’s love of the outdoors found him farming, going on wagon trains, hunting, cutting agates and making jewelry. He also loved gardening and he was famous for sharing the bounty with the community. In later years he enjoyed traveling and in 1986 he and Dorothy had a special trip to Hawaii for a reunion of Army Air force.

Johnnie is survived by a son, Jay Johnson of Wolf Point, daughters Eilleen (Les) Wilcoxon of Scobey, MT and Donna (Claude) Loberg of Wolf Point; a brother, Floyd (Gayle) Johnson of Wolf Point and a sister, Myrtle Scheel of Vancouver, WA; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1996 after 47 years of marriage; his parents, John and Delia Johnson; a son, Leonard Johnson; a brother, Ralph Johnson and a granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Loberg.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel, Wolf Point, MT. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wolf Point, MT officiated by Rev. Gregory Holler-Dinsmore. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
