Josh Isaac “Joshy” Blount passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 36. He was born on August 25, 1988, in Wolf Point, MT, to George William III and Candace J. Blount.
Josh was George and Candy’s youngest and most cherished child. Though he could not speak in words, Josh had a unique and remarkable way of expressing himself. His happiness, kindness, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. His gentle spirit and pure soul were gifts to all, offering a perspective of the world that was both beautiful and extraordinary.
Josh had a love for music and sounds. Whether enjoying a car ride or going through the car wash, he found joy in the rhythm of life. He had a way of letting you know when he wanted the music louder or a song changed, often by tugging on your shoulder or rocking back and forth with excitement. Birthdays were especially meaningful for Josh; his radiant smile and the way he rubbed his hands in delight made these celebrations unforgettable. To his family, he was their earth angel-keeping them grounded, humble, and profoundly blessed.
Despite his challenges, Josh attended school with determination and support. He began his education in Frazer, walking the hallways with his special education paraeducator, Rochelle “Skee” Redstone, who shared a deep bond with him. Later, he attended Wolf Point High School, where he graduated in 2010 with the guidance of Joe Anderson and the encouragement of his peers. Josh’s milestones, both small and significant, were celebrated with equal joy, reflecting the deep appreciation his family and community had for his journey.
Josh was a familiar and beloved presence at the community events, particularly sporting games along the Hi-Line, where he cheered on his siblings and later his nieces and nephews. While he was often quiet, he had a playful side, teasing small children and smiling at their reactions. Above all, Josh shared an unbreakable bond with his mother, Candy. Wherever she went, Josh was by her side, their connection radiating love and joy. Together, they brightened the lives of everyone they encountered, leaving lasting impressions of warmth and inspiration.
Josh loved chaos, brights lights, whipped cream with diet soda, and his favorite movies, including Selena, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo. When he was not at the kitchen table with a spoon in hand, or guzzling a diet Sunkist, he could be found in his room enjoying his favorite shows.
Josh’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his brother, Dennis “Denny” Buck Blount, in Heaven. The immense love that surrounded him on Earth will continue to flourish in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Joshy is survived by his grandmothers, Marietta Fourbear and Rae Jean Belgarde; his parents, George and Candace Blount; his siblings, Troy (Prairie), Shawn, and Brandy (Ben); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and extended family members, including Mya Rose (Josh), Jazmyn Jaye, Ashlan Carmella, Shaydyn Rayn, Shya Rae, McKinley Rill, Connor Ava, Ethan William, Shayl Michael, Shayde Markell, Jasper Jamison, and Jysen Scout.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Buck Blount; his great-grandparents George Sr. and Clara Blount, William and Agnes Steele, and John and Alice Smith; his grandparents George Jr. and Thelma Blount (Steele), Harold “Dean” and Sadie Blount, Dennis and Joan Blount, Gene and Maybelle Chapman, Rita Talks Different, Lucille Blue Earth, Arlene Standing, Pearl Fourbear, and many beloved aunties, uncles, and extended family members.
If we have unintentionally forgotten anyone, we extend our sincere apologies.
Joshy’s gentle soul and unwavering joy will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
