Junia Walking Eagle-Jones

November 26, 1962 — September 28, 2020

Junia Faye Walking-Jones was born November 26, 1962 to Donald Walking Eagle Sr and Ida Ricker-Walking Eagle. Junia was called upon by our creator and left us peacefully September 28th, due to unfortunate health issues.

Junia attended Poplar Schools and went on to work at Poplar IHS for many years.

Junia had met and married Royce John Spotted Bird Sr of Brockton MT; throughout their marriage, she became a wonderful mother to six children. She then divorced and went on to live her life, meeting her lifelong companion, Wayne Douglas Jones of Wolf Point MT.

Junia enjoyed visiting with family, spending lots of time with her grandchildren, fishing with her husband, watching movies and relaxing over a hot cup of tea.  She was an amazing woman and was valued in many ways by people who had the honor of calling her; daughter, sister, mother, auntie, grandma, great grandma, as well as an extremely wonderful wife.

Junia is preceded in death by her grandparents Lucien Walking Eagle/Adele Walking Eagle, her parents Donald Walking Eagle Sr./Ida Ricker Walking Eagle, sisters Irene Walking Eagle, Kathleen Ricker, brother in law Verne Jones, daughter Jonna Lynn Spotted Bird, uncle George Ricker, aunt Nola Walking Eagle-Culbertson, nieces Claytina Whiteman and Charlene Walking Eagle-Youpee, grandchildren Jenna Spotted Bird, Dwain Spotted Bird Jr, John LaSarte Jr, and Vanessa Two Bulls.

Junia is survived by her Husband Wayne Jones(Wolf Point), mother in law Carol Wetsit Jones, sons Royce John Spotted Bird Jr(Poplar MT) and Dwain Spotted Bird(Wolf Point MT), daughters Janis Spotted Bird, Jackie Spotted Bird, and Catherine-Ida Spotted Bird(all of Poplar MT), two special daughters Brittany Whiteman(Japan) and Misty Dawn Strikes Many, sisters Patsy(Bud) TwoBulls and Debbi Walking Eagle (both of Poplar MT), sister in laws Loretta(Gary) Brazier (Great Falls MT), brothers Donald Walking Eagle, Alfred Walking Eagle, George(Bev) Walking Eagle Sr, nieces Lydania Hagadone, Stacey Pipe, Jeri Ann Kirn, Tosha Jordan, Lucinda and Theda Buckles, Dani Walking Eagle And Kayleen DeMarrias, nephews Eddy and Kelly Walking Eagle, Charles Two Bulls, Walkin Brown, Emmett Buckles, George and Benji Walking Eagle, Tony Demarrias, and Theodore Buckles, all 15 of her special grandchildren and 1 precious great grandson.

Extended family includes the Duprees’, Rickers’, Buck Elks’, Daniels’, Cantrells’, Burshias’, Candace Spotted Bird, Verdis Greybull, and Lorna and Charlene Drum.

Junia will be missed dearly and thought of daily by everyone who knew her. May she rest peacefully.

Junia Walking Eagle-Jones had a very large amount of family and friends so we do apologize if we missed anyone.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones Residence located east of Wolf Point on Hwy 2.  Interment will follow at Poplar City Cemetery.
