Kara O’Lette Red Dog, age 47, of Poplar, MT passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012.
She was born on October 4, 1965 in Poplar, the daughter of Lawrence and Almena Red Dog. She attended schools in Poplar, Brockton, MT, St. Labre, MT, and in Washington. She received her G.E.D. in Poplar and attended the Fort Peck Community College in Poplar; where she received her A.A., Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree. She was working on obtaining a Doctorate degree. Kara also worked at A&S Tribal Industries and various other jobs.
Kara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, listening to music, spending time with her grandbabies, Temperance and Trevon. She loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and loved to swim with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Almeda Red Dog; brother, James Red Dog; and four sisters, Bonnie Youpee, Carol Carsillas, Pamela Red Dog, and Estelle Bear Cub.
Kara is survived by her children, Carrie Rinesmith, Corey Red Dog, Morgen Red Dog, Chanelle Red Dog all of Poplar; grandchildren, Trevon Rinesmith and Temperance Freemont; sisters, Doris Red Dog, Rhea (Ron) Star, Vearlene Red Dog, and Lauren (Darren) Red Dog all of Poplar; brothers, Richard Hawk of Levensworth, KS, Maynard Hawk of Poplar and Ron (Cynthia) Kills Plenty of Hedgesville, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, November 30 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Poplar.
