Karsen Peyton-Cole Smith

March 15, 2011 — May 27, 2012

Our beloved son, Karsen Peyton-Cole Smith, was unexpectedly called home on Sunday, May 27, 2012, he was 14 months old.

Karsen Peyton-Cole Smith, “Mini O Nazhi” – (Stands In Water), came into this world and deeply touched all our lives on March 15, 2011 at 3:35 p.m.
Mini O Nazhi weighed 7 pounds, measured 20 inches long and was born at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, MT. From the day that he arrived, Stands In Water made his dad proud, he was constantly learning as well as teaching his little brother, Gunner. Karsen always had happiness in his heart and was gifted with extreme intelligence. He was born with blue eyes that eventually settled into a greenish-hazel mix. Karsen was very affectionate and loved giving kisses to his mother, his father, and whenever he could, his brother. Karsen loved coming home to visit his family, he really knew how to “ham” it up. Karsen was very active, up at the crack of dawn, waiting for his brother to wake up so they could play. Karsen was really a talker, and could make his brother laugh with a few short syllables. Before Mini O Nazhi passed away, he just learned to walk mother earth. Those footprints are going to be held close to the hearts of his loved ones forever.

Karsen is survived by his parents, Channing Smith of Rapid City, SD and Tyree Burshia of Poplar, MT; brother, Gunner Smith of Rapid City; sister, MaKayla Longtree of Poplar; paternal grandparents, Stacie and Freedom Crawford of Wolf Point, MT and Faye and Les Ferguson of Poplar; maternal grandparents, Judy Falcon and Kevin Burshia both of Poplar.

Mini O Nazhi was preceded in death by his older sister, Asher Smith; and uncles, Lane Ferguson and Lawrence Crowe.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2 also at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar.

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
