Katherine R. Roy, a long-time Wolf Point resident, passed away peacefully June 13, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born December 17, 1934 to Rudolph and Rose Berreth in Wolf Point, MT. She grew up on the family farm east of Vida, MT. After graduating from Wolf Point High School, she attended Linfield College in Oregon.
On May 1, 1955, she married Darrel Roy and joined him in Oceanside, CA, where he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. They made their home near the Missouri River east of Wolf Point where they raised four children – Steven, Debra, James, and Patricia.
Kathie loved her home, spending countless hours in her yard and garden. She was a true help-mate to Darrel with the farm and cattle. She was active with the Gideons International Auxiliary and Women in Farm Economics. Kathie played the piano and organ for church and graced many special occasions with her fancy decorated cakes.
Kathie is survived by her children, Steve (Diana) Roy, Debbie (Mike) Wermuth, and Patty Presser; daughter-in-law Marbel Roy; sister Marian Strong-Stiles; 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Darrel Roy, son Jim Roy, grandson Jesse Roy, and brother Douglas Berreth.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 29 at the Clayton-Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideons International.
