Landrea Josilyn Youngman, “Sna Sa CiKana Wiyan” (Little Red Blanket Woman) passed away on January 25, 2023 in Wolf Point, Montana.
Landrea was born to Loren J. (Cheppy) GreyBear-Youngman and Leiya J. Yazzie on August 23, 2016. She attended Wolf Point Southside school. She and her twin brothers were kindergarteners. She loved going to school, sick or not, she was going. Landrea recently made student of the week, she was progressing in school, passing her tests, she was very smart.
Landrea was very close to her siblings. Wherever we went, people saw how well-mannered and close they were, always holding hands. Landrea and her twin brothers are a year apart, we called them the “Triplets”. Their teachers at school noticed how close they were so they called them the “Triplets,” as well.
Landrea used to call her big sister, Lillianna, “Mama” later, she would become “Lil’ Mama” to her twin brothers. She kept them in line at school and made sure they behaved. She always included them in games, made sure they knew when it was time to eat and time to go. Landrea and her siblings have nicknames, hers was “Waka”
Our “Waka” loved watching Minnie Mouse, she loved plushies and playing dress up. She loved heels because of the sound they made. She also loved getting her nails and hair done. Her daddy made her day when she wanted him to fix her hair, he did the best he could and gave her piggy/ponytails with barrettes. She was so happy and proud.
“Waka” had this gentle aura about her. She was a hugger, she loved to give and get hugs, kisses and praises.
We are supposed to teach our children about life. In turn our “Waka” or “Lil’ Mama” taught us about strength, courage, humility, unity, and most of all, kindness.
