Lane Ashton Ferguson

November 4, 1933 — April 14, 2012

Lane Ashton Ferguson started his life on November 4, 1993 in Poplar, MT. He lived a full and active life until his passing on April 14, 2012. Throughout his life Lane was loving, thoughtful and always took care of his younger sisters. Lane was always willing to lend a hand in time of need. His siblings and cousins and all who were related to him will remember him as their protector.

Lane attended Poplar Public Elementary through High School. In junior high, he joined band and took up the drums. He soon got his own set and was very skilled at playing. When Lane was younger he always had a skateboard with him, which always led to a broken bone and a cast. He got his first car in 6th grade and drove it to school. He recently got his Dodge Avenger this past February and was fixing it up with a badness paint job.

He worked mechanic jobs with his dad which was stemming into “Ferguson Kustomz” where he tinted windows, installed stereo equipment, painting cars with his hand drawn graffiti graphics. He always had a vehicle to make sure he was always cruising. Lane loved riding quads with his brother Channing, always having a story to tell afterwards.

Lane enjoyed drawing and thinking of new designs, going hunting with his dad and brothers. Hanging out with his brothers & buds and jumping off the “Train Bridge” whenever possible. Lane loved any automotive aspect; he was always modifying cars to make them louder and faster with his friends Brandon and Brady. Lane liked hanging out at Jerome’s house with the boys playing video games, shooting some hoops with the family at home were some of Lane’s interests. He adored his sisters and especially joking and teasing them and spending time in the garage with his dad. A special memory for Kris is when he was helping her to overcome her fear of heights by jumping off of the train bridge. He was breaking the water for her and started to scare her by telling her he was leaving he started swimming away so she had to jump. Morgan and Lane used to watch ghost adventures & he used to tease her that he was going to leave her in the back room by herself. Melanie had to take turns with herself when he wanted her to rub his back or arm while they were watching t.v. but she loved it as long as she was sucking her thumb. Lane always loved the thought that Tyler could never remember how to put a car stereo in after he showed him how. Lane spent a lot of his time with his cousins, visiting and playing games at his aunt Carlene’s house. On a swimming trip to the Lake with Kris & another of his favorite Aunties Farrell and Uncle Dennis and cousin Toni he threw a stick really far out and made the dog swim half way out. Lane loved his music and collecting speakers so he could make his music as loud as possible.

“Frosty Shorts” and his cousin Will were the best steer chasers around and kept the chutes running smooth when nightly roping went on at The George Ferguson Arena with his uncles Billy & Fred and whoever else showed up. “Frosty” always had a smile for everyone he knew or just met. He had a special personality that drew everyone to him, especially the little ones. Everyone who had the joy of meeting Lane has their own special memory of “Frosty.”

When anyone met him and got to know “Frosty” and was close to him; they knew right away that he was his Daddy’s Baby Boy.

Lane is survived by his parents, Les and Faye Ferguson of Poplar, MT. His Biological mother Tracy (Mark) Smith of New Town, ND.
