Lena Wall

July 11, 1911 — September 15, 2008

Helen Wall, age 97, went to be with the Lord September 14, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Home.

Lena (Helen) Wall was born July 11, 1911 to Heinrich and Katharina (Fast) Unrau on a farm west of Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She was the fourth daughter in the family of eight daughters. In 1913 the family moved west of Chinook, Montana to homestead. When Helen was 12 she accepted Christ as her Savior during meetings at their church with speaker Henry Paul Louis. In 1925 the family moved on a farm in the Lustre Community. Here Helen was baptized and joined the Lustre E.M.B. Church where she remained a member all her life.

On July 30, 1931 Helen married Orlando Jacob Wall. They were married over 68 years. They had a family of six children – one daughter, Linda, and five sons, Marvin, Wilmar, Elmer, Waldo and Harry.

Helen was always a gracious hostess and entertained many missionaries, school teachers, and family and friends. She will be remembered by her family for her concern for each of them and her prayers. Helen did a lot of handwork and each of her children has something she has embroidered. She also loved flowers and had a big garden from which she preserved a lot of food. She had a smile on her face most of the time. She did get frustrated when she had prepared pie crusts for cream pies and frozen cinnamon rolls and was going to use them for guests and found her sons had already enjoyed them. Helen was faithful in the Ladies Group in her church.

On January 21, 1998 Orlando and Helen moved to the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Heinrich H. and Katherina Unrau, her husband, Orlando J. Wall, and her sisters, Katherina Thiessen, Anna Becker, Maria Wedel, Sara Wall, Agnes Wall and Susan Toews. Those who will cherish her memory are daughter, Linda (John) Dirks of Williston, North Dakota, sons, Marvin (Mary Ann) of Omaha, Nebraska, Wilmar (Marjorie) of Whittier, California, Elmer (Eldene) of East Wenatchee, Washington, Waldo (Susan) of Wolf Point, Montana, Harry (Joyce) of Billings, Montana and 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, one sister, Nellie Rauch, and a number of brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends. Helen will be remembered for her love and Godly example.

Services for Helen Wall will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the E.M.B. Church of Lustre, Montana. Interment will follow at E.M.B. Church Cemetery, Lustre. Viewing will take place on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point, Montana.
