Leona Love Brown (Bear), age 46, our heavenly father called her name on October 24, 2016 at her home while surrounded by family.
She was born on October 16, 1970 in Poplar to Robert Brown Sr. and Juanita (Doug) Youngman. She was blessed with one daughter Larissa Rain and two granddaughters, Eva and Lacie.
Leona attended school in Poplar, Brockton, and Wahpeton; graduating from Flandreau in 1991. She worked various jobs in her life time; the Metra in Billings, A&S Tribal Industries, Tribal Express, IHS & Poplar Hospital up to her death.
Leona enjoyed watching football especially her teams; Vikings & Packers. She loved cruising around with her friends and family as well as playing bingo.
She is survived by her mother, Juanita (Doug) Youngman; two brothers, Robert (Vermae) Brown and Delton Brown of Poplar; two granddaughters, Eva and Lacie; nieces, Tia Rose, Tiona and Renee; nephews, Robert III, Dillion, Richard, Zachary, Duran, and Zane; aunts, Naomi Montclair, Velma Nepstad, Mary Lou Azure, Sarah Three Stars, Kathy Azure, Jeanine DeCoteau, Birdie DeCoteau, and Shirley Sparvier; uncles, Richard (Eliza) Young, Art Brown, Elmer DeCoteau, Dale DeCoteau, Jimmie DeCoteau, Charles DeCoteau, Harry Three Stars, Roy Azure, and Edgar Jones; grandpa, Larry Campbell; and special cousins, Starla Longee and Dorsey Young.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Larissa; father, Robert Brown Sr.; grandma, Effie Could Two Bulls, Luella and Art Brown.
Extended families include the Youpee, Black Dog, Red Boy, Little Head, and Cloud family. If we missed anyone we are sorry.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, October 28 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery in Riverside. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
