Leonard E. Murphy, age 47 left us to be with our Lord on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Advanced Care Center in Billings, MT.
He was born in Polar, MT to James R. Murphy and Leonarda Burshia. He attended school in Poplar and Brockton Montana then in Bowman, North Dakota.
At a young age he married Darlene Owens and from this union three boys were born, Spencer, Corey and Kasey. In 1989 he followed his father’s footsteps and started chasing the oil rigs from place to place. He was divorced and then married Kelly Lambert. Together they had a girl and a boy, Sarie and Ethan.
Later after another divorce, he followed the rigs to Wyoming and then Colorado taking his 3 older sons with him. There he met the love of his life Eileen (Pearl) Murphy in 2005 and was married. They raised his and her four children together. They enjoyed traveling, sight seeing, eating out and shopping with their children on his days off. Later they followed the oil “boom” to North Dakota where he worked until the rigs stacked out. Later they relocated to Wolf Point, MT.
Leonard is survived by his wife Eileen (Pearl) Murphy, Wolf Point, MT; his parents Jim Murphy, Novinger, MO and Leonarda Ross, Wolf Point. MT; sons Spencer L. Murphy (Alicia) Bowman, ND, Corey M. Murphy (Mandy) and Kasey Murphy (Stephanie) of Parachute, CO, Ethan L. Murphy of Wolf Point, MT and step sons Bon Freeman of Parachute, CO, Malcolm Freeman of Price, UT, Arron Freeman (Jessica) of Bowman, ND; daughter Sarie L. Murphy (Kyle) of Bowman, ND and stepdaughter Summer Freeman of Cedar City, UT; brothers James D. Murphy of Duluth, MN, Donald Murphy of Beach, ND, Kelly Murphy of Ft Campbell, KY, Tommy Burshia of Sturgis, SD, and Noel Bushia of Wolf Point; sisters Atonya Stokka of Cooperstown, ND, Patsy Butterworth of Duluth, MN, Sheila Segar of Mineral Wells, TX and Angel Murphy of North Platte, NE he had 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Jorda and Tayton Murphy which he helped raise and treated as his own, he had several aunts and uncles and cousins, numerous friends. He had adopted sisters Crystal Azure and Kelly GreyBear and adopted brothers Calvin Lester and Bobby Daniels and Bryce Granbois.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother Byron L. Murphy and a niece Jasmine M. Murphy.
The funeral service will be announced at a later date pending the completion of the arrangements.
