Leta Louise Smith, affectionately known as “Weasel Cat”, of Missoula, MT formerly of Wolf Point, MT, passed away on October 31, 2012 in Missoula, at the age of 54 due to natural causes.
Louise was born December 12, 1957 Wolf Point Mt., the daughter of Hazel Track and Edison Clancy and adopted parents Albert and Eva Mae Smith.
Weasel graduated from Wolf Point High School in May of 1976. She always participated in charities such as the March of Dimes and others. Weasel would be the first to volunteer and seek pledges by walking or jumping rope to help raise money. Her efforts brought the charities a lot of pledges.
Weasel loved music, and was a very gifted self-taught musician. She could hear a song and then find the chords on the guitar or keys on the piano simply by listening. When she was young she and her cousin Ira Track created a band and performed at teen dances. Weasel could play either the guitar or drums. When she got older she played the drums in a band with her brother Marvin Smith who played the electric guitar. When she talked about the band she always bragged up his abilities, while she air drummed a song she had in her head.
From a life of overwhelming hardship and heartache came rays of sunshine, her daughter Michelle was born, Weasel loved her unconditionally. She brought meaning and love into her life, Michelle gave Weasel three beautiful grandchildren. They were her life, she lived thru them, they brought her much happiness and joy. She shared in their accomplishments and worried about their struggles. She tried to be the best mother and grandmother she could be. Weasel freely gave all the affection and love she held in her heart, to them.
Missoula became her home she loved living close to the mountains. Weasel was always eager to help others she had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart. She will be missed by all that knew her.
