Linda Marie Boyd, 63 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 23, 2015. Linda was born on March 29, 1952 to Ralph Longee and Fanny Smith-Longee in Poplar, MT.
She attended school in Poplar and Flandreau Indian School. Linda graduated from Brockton High School in 1971. Linda met her husband, Lowell Boyd, Sr. when she was 16 years old at the Fort Kipp Celebration. They married on December 21, 1970 at the Baptist Church in Poplar. A son Lowell was born in 1971 and a daughter Sherry in 1976.
In 1984 Linda started with the Fort Peck Tribes in the Administration Office. While working, Linda attended the NAES College in Poplar and earned an AA in Human Services in 1987 and General Studies in 1986.
In 1999, Linda moved over to the Fort Peck Youth corrections as a secretary. She was employed there until the time of her death. Linda had planned to retire at the end of November. She really cared about her co-workers and thought of them as family.
Linda enjoyed crocheting and being with her grandchildren whom she loved very much. Linda enjoyed watching the Food Network and was known for her delicious banana bread. Linda enjoyed planting a garden with her husband.
Linda is survived by her husband, Lowell (buddy) Boyd, Sr., her special canine friend, Missy; son Lowell Boyd, Jr. (Suzanne); daughter Sherry Cantrell; granddaughters Taylor (Antoine), Nikki (Carlus), Brooke (James) and Payton Klinger; grandsons Jesse Boyd and Caleb Klinger; great-grandchildren Royalty and Stetson all of Poplar; sister Pearl Longee and niece Michele Lee of Oklahoma and brother Darrel Longee; she is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother, father, and two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby, a sister Darlene Burshia and her favorite cousin Geri Barber.
Linda was one strong lady. She helped and cared for everyone. Linda was at peace and ready to be with Our Lord and Savior. She said she was ready to be in heaven and she wasn’t scared. Linda is no longer suffering and can rejoice in Heaven.
We love and miss you-you will forever be in our hearts.
