Lois Fern Reddies, age 75, of Wolf Point, MT, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her residence in Wolf Point.

Lois was born in Poplar, MT on November 16, 1933 to Edwin J. and Josephine B. Lambert Reddoor. She grew up and attended schools in Poplar and graduated from Poplar High School as valedictorian with the class of “52.

Upon graduation she worked several years as a Legal Secretary at the BIA, a number of years in Tribal Law & Order Foster Care, then also for the Tribes in accounting. Before retiring she worked with her father on claims and treaties research.

Lois was an artist who mastered all medias of art as a seamstress, dollmaker and traditional craftswoman. She was referred to in the community of traditional artists as ‘the great and powerful’.

She is survived by two sisters, Donna Murray and Edna Strauser and one brother, E.J. Reddoor all of Poplar, MT; two sons, Guy (Barb) Reddoor of Wisconsin and Karl (Stacey) Reddies of Fort Peck, MT; two daughters, Kathryn (David) Reddies of Missoula, MT and Wendy (Scott) Reddies of Poplar; two daughters in-law, Colleen Birdsbill of Wolf Point and Kim Reddies of Havre, MT; 16 grandchildren: Byrdie, Cammie, Kyle, Kolt, Rafferty, Cooper, Tyler, Alyse, Emma, Hillary, Tobin, Ashley, Ben, Courtney, Scott and Sam and 13 great grandchildren: Cory, Falon, Reed, Gage, Stevie, Tristan, Emma, Jade, Tade, MaeBelle, Ricco, Rebel and Roy.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Reddies; her parents, Edwin and Josephine Reddoor; a son, Paul Reddies; a grandson, Eric Azure; three brothers, Courtney, Marlon and Duane and two sisters, ArtisRay and Marlene.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church in Poplar, MT. Her Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 also at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Chelsea Cemetery west of Poplar, MT. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
