Lonnie (Lobo) DeCoteau
November 14, 1961 – October 26, 2008
Lonnie DeCoteau, age 46, of Poplar, Montana passed away October 26, 2008 at the Poplar Community Hospital.
Lonnie (Lobo) DeCoteau went to be with the Lord and joined his father, Elmer DeCoteau Sr., his older brother, Emerson Arlin DeCoteau, his younger sister, Francine DeCoteau, his nephew, Jeffery Douglas and his niece, Erin Jean DeCoteau.
Lonnie DeCoteau is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Lester-DeCoteau of Poplar, MT; four brothers, Elmer (Kristy) DeCoteau of Poplar, Lester Dale (Chrystal) DeCoteau of Wolf Point, MT, Carroll James (Nadine) DeCoteau of Frazer, MT, and Charles DeCoteau of Poplar; three sisters, Eliza (Richard) Young of Poplar, Jeanine DeCoteau of Riverside and Birdie Hawk of Poplar; two uncles, Clayton (Doris) Lester of Scottsdale, AZ and Sylvester (Cody) DeCoteau of Brooksville, FL. Lonnie also leaves behind two adopted brothers, Lewellyn Spotted Bird of Poplar and Ron Ferrell of Mobil, GA, his best friend Kenny Ayers, and a lot of cousins, nephews, nieces and grandchildren that he loved dearly.
Lonnie DeCoteau was born November 14, 1961 and attended schools in Poplar, Oakland, CA, and Flandreau, SD. Lonnie worked for A&S Industries making nets and later operated large presses and other equipment. During the wild fire season, he was employed as a firefighter and later as a squad boss and sawyer. Lonnie was also a very efficient cashier with the Winnebago casino and well liked; but like so many people, he constantly sought out a meaningful occupation. His search led him to the Fort Peck Community College (FPCC), where he received an Associate Degree in Computer Technology and a Certificate in Computer Programming. Lonnie tutored young students at the FPCC and published an essay in the college journal. At the time of his death, Lonnie was working for Wal-Mart. Lonnie planned on continuing his education at a university to accomplish his dream in becoming a teacher so he could help others seek their potential.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Poplar Cultural Center, which will be preceded by a wake at the Cultural Center, Sunday, November 2, 2008, starting around 7:00 p.m.
Lonnie DeCoteau’s calm demeanor and pleasant smile will be greatly missed.
