Loretta Helen Adams-Heck, age 53, of Poplar, MT passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 in Poplar.
Loretta, the daughter of Clarence and Loretta (Abraham) Adams, was born on September 17, 1959 in Poplar. She graduated high school in Brockton. Loretta was a champion fancy dancer throughout the U.S. and Canada. She also was a Kahomini champion along with her brother, Buddy, in the U.S. and Canada. In 1978, she was the Oil Discovery Celebration princess.
In 1979, she married Jeff Jefferson, to this union, a son, Brandon, was born. They later divorced. In 1992, Loretta married Keith York, to this union, her daughter, Tiffani Joy, was born. They also divorced. She then married Gene Heck, to this union, a son, Dustin Wayne was born. They later divorced but they remained friends.
Loretta was a strong believer in God. She enjoyed attending rodeos, playing bingo in Las Vegas, NV, dancing at powwows, listening to country western music, visiting with family and friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Throughout her life, she lived in many places such as, Las Vegas, NV, Sidney, MT, Williston, ND, Wood Mountain, SK, Canada, and Rapid City, SD, before moving back to Poplar in 2010.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Loretta Adams; brother, Leo Walking Eagle, Jr.; sisters, Lynda Lethbridge, and Sandra Shanta; nephew, Kevin Walking Eagle; and niece, Doretta Mae White Cloud.
She is survived by her children, Brandon (Tamara) Jefferson of Poplar, Tiffani Joy Lethbridge of Fort Kipp, MT, and Dustin Wayne Heck of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Brooke Niqole, Treydan James, and Sadie Jade Jefferson all of Poplar; sisters, Clarice (Clyde) Perry of Fort Kipp, Leona Adams of Poplar, Edith Adams of Poplar, and Claudia (Will) Reese of Tola Rosa, NM; brother, Harold “Buddy” (Carolyn) Adams of Fort Kipp; adopted sisters, Lorna Martin, Rena Williams, Noreen Four Bear, Violet Comes Last, Francine LeMay, Floreen LeMay, Charlene Drum, and Jo’e Youngman; and adopted brother, Bobby Black Dog of Fort Kipp.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, April 5 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery in Fort Kipp, MT.
