Lori Faith Big Talk Lone Bear “Her Star Woman” was born January 22, 1969 in Poplar, MT to Vera and Matthew Big Talk, Sr. She went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2014 in Brockton, MT.
She was raised in Brockton by her grandma and grandpa, Faye Bird and William Conklin for a short time. The family moved to Bismarck, ND for a short time where she participated in Tai Kwon Do and Jin-Jitsu. When she returned to Brockton, she brought martial arts back with her. Along with Monty Yellow Bird, they held classes at the Cultural Center. When she was in school in Brockton she was on the drill team. She was also a woman’s traditional dancer from her teen years to her 20’s. After school she was employed as a CNA and also a flagger.
She enjoyed all the time she could get with her grandchildren who she loved and cared for with all her heart. She was very caring when it came to kids. She always had candy and cookies on the table, especially when Jewellie Girl and Kiera Bear were around.
She had enjoyed all the time she spent with her numerous friends and relatives that came to spend time with her. She was always spending time with her very special aunt Ducky Bird she loved with all her heart.
She will be greatly missed by Clifton, Angie, Casey, Laurel, Kale, and Angeline (Big P) Cheek.
You could also find her doing another favorite of things by cruising and arguing with Lyle Bear and her special friends Judy and Phyllis Grey Bear, Mike Olsen, Myra Grey Hawk, Jonita Bear, and Toni “Chanupe” Walking Eagle.
Lori is survived by her children William Thomas Big Talk and his children Jaila and Wyatt Big Talk. She is survived by Robert Ben Azure, Jr. and his daughter Juliann Rose Martin. Lori is survived by Michael Wade Thomas and his son Jorian Joseph White. She is survived by her daughter Mistty Jade Thomas and her son Broncsten Daniel Wade Thomas. She is survived by her aunties Ducky and Boyder Bird, Thelma and Vincent Moran, Beverly Bird, Grandma Suzie Cheek, Leonard and JoAnne Crow Dog, Sonny Hare, Linda Melbourne, and Charlene Cheek.
On New Year’s Eve of 1996 she was married to Max Lone Bear. He precedes her in death with their son who passed away in April of 1997. Other family members that precede Lori in death are: her mother Vera Big Talk, her brother Matthew James Big Talk, Jr., her sister Lisa Big Talk, and her father Matthew Big Talk, Sr. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Faye Bird and William Conklin, Jr., Gramma Lucy, Steven Big Talk, Virginia Big Talk, Ruth Martin, Donna Yellow Hammer, Joe Jones, William Thomas Conklin, Sr., Robert MacDonald, Daniel McKay, Calvin Melbourne, Payton Weinberger, Martha Black Dog, Bronson Charboneau, Thomas Jerome, Johnnie McClammy, Jessica Keiser, Jerome J. Sun Rhodes, Jr., Sandra Melbourne, Frederick Crowe, Earl Jones III “Chubbs”, and Darrel Jones.
She came from the families of Birds, Big Talks, Martins, Jones, Melbournes, Fergusons, Cheeks, Clarks, Chases, Walking Eagles, Fast Horses, and White Hawks.
A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Rite of committal will follow at the Riverside Catholic Cemetery in Brockton. Condolences for the family may be left at www.claytonstevensonchapel.com .
