Lyda Reddog

Lyda Alda Bighorn Brown Reddog, age 67 of Poplar, MT passed away on May 15 th 2018 after a short illness. She was born March 8 th 1951 in Poplar, MT. The daughter of the late Leonard and Catherine (LeMay) Bighorn.

Lyda graduated from Brockton high school in 1969 Where she was a cheerleader for the Brockton Warriors. She then began her life work as a Teacher’s Assistant with the Poplar Public schools starting in 1976. As a teacher’s assistant, Lyda dedicated many years to children of all ages in encouraging and assisting them in their education.

She received a certificate of recognition which recognizes paraprofessionals statewide with appreciation and respect of the people of Montana. At the time of her retirement she worked in ALC where she was a facilitator to high school students in finalizing their courses in preparation for their higher education. SShe retired December 2017. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching western movies, teaching Sunday school, and cruising the countryside.

Lyda married the late Gordon Brown on August of 1969. To this union Kim, Billy, Karmen, and Kaycee were born. They later divorced. In 1993, Lyda married Lonnie Reddog and to this union Loralee was born. Lonnie preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Clay) Brown, Kaycee (Brandon) Neal of Billings, Gordon Billy Brown of Poplar and Loralee (Channing) Smith of Williston, ND. Step-children Missy (Reese) Reddoor of Poplar and Lonelle Rising Sun. She is also survived by grandchildren Telsa Madden, Charley (Kyle) Widdicombe, Heavynn, RJ LowDog, McKenzee, Katelynn, and Braeden Neal all of Billings. She is survived by grandchildren Rikki Brown, Brended Brown, Larin Brown, Theresia Brown, Geral’lynn Brown all of Poplar, MT. She is survived also by grandchildren Jayden Ray, Kaleo and Gunner Smith of Williston ND and Stevie McClammy of Wolf Point, MT. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Jaxson, Zoey, Theo Widdicombe, Laraya Brown, Grayson and Dylan Walking Eagle, Adeline McClammy. Nine brothers and sisters: Caroline Baker of Poplar, MT, Leonard (Amanda) Crow Belt of Brockton, MT, Dr. Robin Bighorn of Poplar, MT, Fred (Helen) Bighorn of Brockton, MT, Greg (daughter, Paula Marie and family) Bighorn, and Dean (Susan) Bighorn all of Poplar, MT, April (Danny) Lindsey of Wolf Point, MT, Bruce Bauer of Wolf Point, MT, and Irene (Wayne) Bighorn of Poplar, MT; nieces and nephews: Taffy, Kathy, Ralph Hamilton, Ben F., Leonard, Loren, Arnie, Vonda, Lesley, Robin, Rene, Cheryl, Paula Marie, Chris, Hunter, Mary, Imani, Harold, Billy Sr., Christopher Sr., Rachelle, Royal, Loverty, Billy Jr., Danny III, Justin, Clarice, Hailey, Shanley, Stanley, Stanette, Patricia, and numerous great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Karmen Brown (Daughter), Stephen Brown (Grandson), Theresa Brown (Daughter-in-law), Angela Brown (sister), Jason Bighorn (nephew). A very special thank you to the Poplar Hospital Doctors, Nurses, and staff. We are also very grateful for Uncle Buster, Cheryl, Auntie Irene and Kathy for your support in the care of our Mother.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, May 18 at the Red Eagle Church in Fort Kipp. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Red Eagle Church in Fort Kipp. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.
