Lydia Ann Long

Lydia Ann Long, 89, died, Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Faith Lutheran Home here in Wolf Point.

She was born in Somerville, New Jersey, on May 16, 1922 to George and Lydia (Amermann) Sutton. She grew up in Bound Brook, New Jersey, and went to Bound Brook High School.

She married John Vernon Long, a resident of Shamokin, Pennsylvania. They moved to Long Beach, California, and lived there for many years. She migrated to Wolf Point, Montana early in 1980’s, where she lived at until the time of her death.

She loved to be outside, no matter what the weather, walking and gardening were her favorite past times. She worked at Swanson’s Store for many years, and she also cleaned the Burger Kitchen. Another Job that she enjoyed was helping to put the Trader Newspaper together. She loved her flowers, and you could see her out working in the yard throughout the spring and summer. Winter didn’t stop her outside activities, and you could find her out shoveling snow and cleaning off her porch constantly throughout the cold winters.

She is survived by her four daughters, Judith (Phillip) Talbott of Washington, NC, Kelly Lewis of Los Olivos, CA, Cindy (Jim) MacDonald, and Linda Hubbard both of Wolf Point; four grandchildren, whom of which she took special pride in, James “Tuffy” MacDonald and Jennifer Hubbard both of Wolf Point, Christopher Scott Benavente of Rio Rancho, NM, and Danella Pochman of Ft. Collins, CO; five great grandchildren, John Benavente, Landon Hubbard, Hailey and Blake Hunsley of Wolf Point, and Sofia Pochman of Ft. Collins, CO; sister, Barbara DiMaggio; two brothers, David Sutton and Kenneth Sutton; and many step-brothers and sisters who are very dear to her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Vernon Long; daughter, Susan Carol Long; and her three brothers, George E. Sutton, Vernon Holbrook, and Albert Sutton.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, February 10 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11 also at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point.
