Mack C. Lack

May 9, 1926 — November 15, 2013

Mr. Mack C. Lack, 87, of Wolf Point, Montana, died Friday, November 15, 2013. Mack was born May 20, 1926, in Mize, Mississippi to Wilborn Moses and Stella McCallum Lack. Mack had seven siblings, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Mack spoke of his brothers and sisters often and with great fondness even though there were many miles between them. He missed them greatly and enjoyed his visits with them both in person and the many phone calls.

Mack was a veteran of World War II; a Sergeant in the 69th Infantry Division, U.S. 3rd Army, under the command of General George C. Patton. The 69th Infantry Division was involved in engagements across Europe from coastal France to Germany. The 69th Infantry Division was recognized as Holocaust liberators at Leipzig, Germany. Mack returned home from the war and attended Jones County Junior College and then went on to get his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology while attending the University of Mississippi. He worked as a point chief geologist in Southern Louisiana and West Texas and then traveled at the age of 26 to Wolf Point, Montana to work as a geologist there. There he met and married Alvina Paulina Wagner Turner in 1952, and became stepfather to Eugene. They were together for 21 years and during their time together they traveled to many large Jehovah’s Witness Conventions throughout the states, which was very important to them. Then Mack’s beloved Alvina passed away in 1973. Mack then met and married Joylee Aguilar and gained 4 stepchildren.

Mack was baptized as one of Jehovah’s witnesses in 1952. He served as a minister in the congregation and in the community. He tried to follow the example Jesus set of telling others about the Kingdom Good News and his father’s name, Jehovah. Many in the community remember Mack coming to their doors with this message. For now Mack is sleeping and remains in Jehovah’s memory awaiting his resurrection to everlasting life here on earth. We look forward to welcoming him back in the paradise.

Mack never forgot his southern hospitality roots. His home was always open to visitors and strangers. They would never leave without him giving them something. His favorite saying when visitors were getting ready to leave was “What’s your hurry?”

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alvina Turner Lack, his sister Wilene Lack, his brothers, Colonel Wendell D. Lack, Wilborn M. Lack, Jr, and Charles R. Lack. He is survived by his sister, Jean Anne Griffing (Clayton), his brothers, Dick R. Lack (Dell), and James H. Lack (Jo), as well as his sister-in-law, Barbara Lack. He is also survived by his stepchildren.

Ten years ago Mack was diagnosed with dementia, making it necessary for more thorough care. Special thanks to Mack’s congregation, especially those in the trenches like Ed Hennessy, Tom Smith, Jr., Kathy Neven, and Dawna Hendrickson.
