Marian A. Baker of Livingston, MT, formerly of Wolf Point, age 88, “changed camps” passing peacefully on October 7, 2008. A native and true Montana spirit, she was born Marian A. Anderson, to Hazel and Henry Anderson on March 25, 1920 in Wolf Point, MT. Her mother and father were homesteaders, south of Fort Peck. She graduated from Frazer High School in 1938. After graduation she moved to Wolf Point and obtained employment, helping people in their homes. She met her life long partner, Vernon Baker. They were married in December of 1938 and shared their life together for 65 years. Her resume also included working at the Wolf Point hospital, being a rural mail carrier for many years and at the time of her retirement working at a local dairy as a bookkeeper.
Some of Marian’s fondest memories are fishing with her husband, Vernon, and all her children and their spouses and sometimes some grandchildren . She would always make her famous cinnamon rolls for any occasion.
She had a sharp eye for cards and was hard to beat in a game of pinochle. Marian was always happy-go-lucky, and so full of fun and had such a witty mind. Her quick smile drew people close to her and once there, you were forever in her circle. She loved attending church and her faith kept her strong. She will be remembered for so many fond memories that she leaves behind for those who will treasure them always. She so loved her children, her children’s spouses and her dear grandchildren. Marian will be missed so much by her loved ones and friends.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Harvey Hill) of Corvalis, MT; 3 sons – Mearl (Jeanie) Baker of Livingston, MT; Richard (Sally) Baker of Clarksville, GA; James (Gaye) Baker of Columbia, MO; 2 brothers, Sid and Mainert; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
