Marie B. Heinrichs, 93, formerly of Wolf Point, recently residing at the Elim Place Rest Home in Sanger Calif., died July 12, 2008.
She was born Nov. 26, 1914, to Diedrich and Anna Bueckert. She grew up in Saskatchewan, but was snatched away by marriage to the Volt community by a tall, dark and handsome Peter Heinrichs.
Marie was known for her delicious pies, homebaked buns and fried potatoes. She liked gardening, and the farm animals followed her all around the farm. She was very involved in her church activities. Ladies aid and quilting was a highlight, as well as teaching the kids Sunday School classes. The flannel graph figures used in Sunday School came out of their drawers at home many times to entertain visiting children and young people.
She enjoyed having people in to visit. We would see her a lot of times on her knees praying for the family as well as the neighbors. She was also very compassionate. If someone was in need and she could help in any way she would volunteer to do it. She had a fierce competitive streak passed on to her from tense checker games with her Dad. She was full of fun and a great lady and we will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Heinrichs; a great-grandaughter, Melissa Dilley; and a son-in-law, Bill Harmon.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Gene Heinrichs of Sanger, Calif., Marlene Blankenship of Nixa, Mo., Lawrence (Larry) Heinrichs of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Judith Harmon of Glendora, Calif., and Jeanette Heinrichs of Centennial, Colo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grand-children; and one sister, Betty of Canada.
Memorial services will be held at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Bethel Wolf Point Church grounds cemetery adjacent to her husband’s plot.
