Marty Lone Bear

April 26, 1958 — November 10, 2020

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Marty Darrell Lone Bear left this world to be with our loving Creator.  Marty passed at the Billings Clinic due to health conditions that he suffered from.  Marty was born to Adelbert Lone Bear Sr. and Irene Pearl Martin on April 26, 1958 at their home in Shell Creek, North Dakota.  Marty grew up in New Town but spent most of his adult life on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Marty was an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes located in North Dakota.

Marty attended school in Glasgow, Montana and Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, SD.  While in Flandreau, he played basketball, along with participating in cross country and track.  Marty received his GED and later attended Montana State University-Havre.

He married Cindy Cliff, but they later divorced. From this union they had daughters, Irene F. Lone Bear, Michelle Lone Bear and a son, Marty A. Lone Bear. Marty had other relationships and from these relationships he had a daughter, Mandy Manning and a son, Brandon Gopher.

Marty enjoyed going to Billings with his sister Kitty and her husband Craig, where he would do some serious shopping. He enjoyed playing his guitar and going on road trips with his brother Ears, many of their trips were to North Dakota to visit family and friends. Marty had a great sense of humor. He was always saying or doing something to make you laugh. I’m sure Marty’s family and friends could share some stories that will make you chuckle. If he heard a rodeo was going on, he was sure to go as he enjoyed these events, as nothing was out of the way for him.  Marty’s employment consisted of firefighting, mechanic work, pipeline, and employment with FPCC. Marty has left all of us with a lot of good memories, he surely will be missed.
