Mary Wilma Waller, a long time area resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 21, 2014 at the Northeast Montana Health Center in Poplar where she had been a resident for the last nine months.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Froid Lutheran Church. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Homestead Cemetery in Homestead, Montana.
Mary W. Waller was born in Great Falls, Montana on March 15, 1919 to Frank and Lillian Murray of Homestead. Mary attended school during her early years in her grandparents’ yard, then country school, and eventually graduated from Froid High School.
She married Halles Waller December 21, 1938 and they moved to a small house on Smoke Creek where they began their married life. They then moved that house to the present location, west of Froid, where they engaged in farming and raised their four children: Sharon, James, Donna, and Thomas.
Mary was noted for her sewing abilities, sewing and altering for friends and family, quilting and crocheting to the benefit of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always had some sewing project by her chair. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Mary is survived by her children, Sharon (Nolan) Harmon of Ellendale, North Dakota, James (Donna) Waller of Missoula, and Thomas (Linda) Waller of Froid. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Mary is survived by one sister, Margaret Tompt of Plentywood and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by daughter Donna, one grandson, one great grandson, and husband Halles.
