Mathew was born to Mathew “Matt” and Vera Bird BigTalk Sr. on February 21, 1971 in Poplar. Bully attended Brockton Schools and graduated from High School in May of 1990. He still holds the school record for shot put, javelin and discus.

Bully worked as janitor at FPCC and Distribution Clerk at Commodities for the Fort Peck Tribes. He was an in-home health aide and an artist.

Bully loved drawing and painting, doing Native American Crafts and hunting and fishing. He was always there to support his nephews and nieces in their sporting activities. He enjoyed sundances, sweats and pow-wows. His artwork can be seen at Tribal Express. He also designed the logo for the Sisseton Wahpeton Organization.

Bully will be missed by his sisters, Lisa BigTalk of Poplar and Lori BigTalk of Brockton; special nephews that were like his brothers, William (Jenny) BigTalk of Wolf Point and Robert Azure of Poplar; special granddaughter, Jaila BigTalk of Wolf Point, MT; two special moms, Theresa Sun Rhodes and Sybil Erickson both of Poplar; special aunts, Doris Bird of Brockton, Thelma Bird of Culbertson, Ethelene WhiteHawk of Brockton, and Beverly Bird and grandson Louie Conklin Jr. of Poplar; grandpa, Calvin Melbourne of Brockton; great-grandpa, Joseph Jones of Oswego, MT; grandmas, Susan Cheek of Brockton and Rebecca Clark of Poplar; uncles, Clarence MacDonald of Poplar, Clayton Reum of Wolf Point, Casper Demarrias of Fort Townsend, ND, Leonard Crow Dog of Rosebud, SD and “Sonny” Leonard Hare of Rapid City, SD; niece, Mistty Thomas of Riverside, MT; and nephew Michael Thomas of Brockton.

If we left anybody out it wasn’t intentional. We have a very large family and Bully had many friends.
