Mathias “Whitey” Joseph Fast Horse, age 23, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Friday, December 28, 2012.
Whitey was born on June 30, 1989 at the Poplar Hospital to Jamie Red Thunder and Clarence Fast Horse, Sr.
At the age of 17 he moved to Helena to be near his future wife. He then returned home on July 4, 2007 to marry Miss April Lynn Follette. She became Mrs. April Lynn Fast Horse. To this union on April 10, 2008 their beautiful daughter, Shya Lynn was born.
He worked various jobs in Helena then when he returned home, he worked on the oil rigs and roads.
He attended the Poplar and Brockton schools. His favorite subject at all times was art. He loved to draw, play pool, meet people, cruise around with “the boys”, listen to music, and just be around family and friends.
Whitey is survived by his daughter, Shya Lynn Fast Horse; step daughters, Shantacie “Shanie Bug”, Loralei and Angel Ricker; parents, Jamie Red Thunder and Clarence Fast Horse, Sr. of Poplar; sisters, TeAira Fast Horse and Joni Jones; brothers, Sonny Kaine and Kassius; aunts, Cindy Grey Bull of Billings, MT, Michelene, Katerri, and Lucinda Fast Horse all of Wolf Point, Colleen Romero of Billings, Grace Archdale and Johnelle Red Thunder Jones of Poplar; uncles, Michael Jr., Gordon, and John Fast Horse, Kevin Devereaux and John Red Thunder, Jr.all of Poplar, and Raymond and Totz Track of Brockton; grandmas, Melinda Shields of Poplar, Linda Hotomanie of Malta, MT, Dolly Boyd, Sharon Red Thunder and Kate Youpee all of Poplar, Jamie Youpee and LuJuanna Fire Cloud of Brockton; grandpas, Julian Shields of Wolf Point, Leonard Rattling Thunder of Riverside, MT, and Russ Youpee of Poplar; great-grandpas, Jim Youpee of Brockton, and Lloyd Youpee of Poplar. Whitey loved all his relatives but there are too many to name.
Whitey was preceded in death by his wife, April Lynn Fast Horse; grandpas, Michael Fast Horse, Sr. and John Red Thunder, Sr.; brother, Anthony “A.J.” Follette; uncles, Kenneth Devereaux, Sr. and Arnie Fast Horse; and a cousin, Maynard “Tre” Longee III.
Son, we love you and will miss you dearly. -love, Mom and Dad.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, January 4 at the Cultural Center in Poplar, MT. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Riverside, MT.
