Melvin Edmund Jackson

October 18, 1943 — June 1, 2008

Melvin Edmund “Butch” Jackson, 64, of Billings, MT, formerly of Frazer, MT, surrounded by his family peacefully left this world on June 1st, 2008 at the Billings Clinic.

He was born October 18th, 1943 to Enright and Ethel Jackson in Frazer, MT.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Eugenia, son Robert, daughter Nancy, son-in-law Cimeron, his two grandchildren, who were his pride and joy Cimeron, Jr and Lanica all of Billings. His mother Ethel Jackson of Great Falls, brother Richard (Bernadette) Jackson, sisters Carla (Dennis) McCarty of Great Falls, Noralie “Bunni” Jackson of Ft. Belknap, Paula (Dave) Tennent, of Miles City, Jonnie (Lisa) Jackson of Billings, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Enright Jackson, brothers, William, Benjamin and Emerson Jackson and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He had a real passion for Wild Horse Racing. He loved to go to the Red Lodge Rodeo every July to watch his favorite Wild Horse Racers, Indian, Brickie, D.B., Patrick and Milo Jackson.

Butch dropped out of High School to join the Marines, earning his GED while in the service. He proudly served in the Vietnam War. He was active with Legion Post 54 while residing in Poplar, MT.

He worked numerous jobs throughout his life. He was a jack of all trades but a master of none. Always fixing cars and working hard.

After health problems kept him from working, he went to Fort Peck Community College. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies. Then he moved his family to Billings to go to college. He was in his final semester of his senior year at MSU-B when he had a stroke and had to withdraw from school.

Dad had a real passion for life. He lived his life to the fullest and left the world with no regrets.

A traditional 4-day feast will be held on Wednesday June 4th at 1pm at the Frazer Community Hall. Wake & Services will be held 7pm Thursday June 5th and funeral service 11am Friday will be held in the Frazer Community Hall with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
