Michael Charles Holter passed away at the age of 57 in Wolf Point, MT on August 26, 2009. He was born on September 8, 1951 in La Crosse, WI to Sylvan and Lorayne (Chester) Holter. Michael was raised on the family farm.
He attended and graduated from Holmen High School. After High School, Michael served in the United States Navy. After his enlistment, he married Pamala Skime and had two children; Melissa and Michael. Michael received an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics and another in Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
Being a mechanic at heart, he worked many jobs throughout the years. While in Wisconsin, he worked for Diesel Power. For the past nine years, he was employed by DeWitt Farms of Wolf Point.
Michael was an avid sports fan. Most of all, he loved the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed the outdoors, horses and wildlife. After moving to Montana, Michael truly loved camping under the Big Sky where he always felt he could touch the moon and stars.
He is preceded by his parents; Lorayne (Chester) and Sylvan Holter; and a granddaughter Kathryn DeWitt.
Michael is survived by his daughter Melissa (Martin) DeWitt of Wolf Point, MT; son Michael (Amity) Holter of La Crosse, WI; a sister, Shelia (Joseph) Bissen of Madison, WI; a brother, David (Marjorie) Holter of Albuquerque, NM; a brother, Timothy (Ardie) Holter of New Amsterdam, WI; five grandchildren: Alexis, Matthew, Maximus and Ava DeWitt of Wolf Point, MT and Autumn Holter of La Crosse, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be held at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 from 5-9 PM. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 at 2 PM. At First Lutheran Church of Wolf Point with Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore officiating. Immediately following the ceremony, internment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
