Michael Lawrence Wagenseller, age 62, passed away on August 18, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings due to diabetic complications with his adopted mom Cissie Anderson by his side.
Mike was born on the Fort Peck Reservation in Wolf Point, MT to Bonnie Whitehorse Wagenseller and Chester Wagenseller on June 25, 1953.
When Mike was 16 years old he started to work in the oil fields. He worked on the oil rigs most of his life. Some years later, Mike met and married Diane Downing and from this union they had one daughter, Maranda Caffey. They later divorced.
In the early 1990’s, Mike came back to Montana. In 1994 he met Wallis R. Scheaffer and they started their life together. Wallis had six children that Mike helped raise as his own children.
Later in Mike’s life he had health problems that he faced, but they never kept him down. He loved to be outside, and was always walking as a way to rehabilitate himself.
Mike is survived by his six step-children whom he saw as his own Benjie WiseSpirit, Valanda WhiteHawk, Shantelle Scheaffer, Shalee Scheaffer, Chancey Blu Scheaffer, Chereé Scheaffer and grandchildren; his adopted mother Iris “Cissie” Anderson; brother Jim Wagenseller and family; sister Susan Roberts and family; aunt Mary Gourneau and family; uncle Moses Whitehorse and Mariah Pipe and her family that was like a daughter to him.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Bonnie Whitehorse Wagenseller and Chester Wagenseller and a brother.
