Michael Ray Long, age 45, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2009.
Mike was born on March 9, 1963 in Wolf Point, Montana, the son of Bernard and Janice Long.
In the early years of his life he lived in various towns while his dad worked on construction. When he was 5 years old they moved to a farm west of Wolf Point where he grew up, helping with the work there until he graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1981.
It was a great moment when Mike met the love of his life Brenda Henry, whi1e custom cutting in North Dakota. A year later Mike and Brenda started their family life together in Wolf Point where Mike took Brenda’s one year old daughter Shyla as his very own. In 1987 Shayna was born followed by Garrett in 1991 completing a happy and rambunctious family.
They had 26 years together before God took Mike in an untimely accident. Mike was an amazing provider. During his life he worked construction and drove semi. He was always there to lend a helping hand if someone needed him.
Mike was currently employed by B P Construction. He was a very talented individual who could “DO” anything. He had a very large heart and was never short on words. Mike loved his family, friends, fishing, hunting with his dogs, collecting and restoring old dodqe/mopar cars. He also loved to wild horse race; one of his greatest memories was winning the 75th anniversary belt buckle at the Wolf Point Stampede in 1996. Mike’s grin and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; son, Garrett of the family home, daughters Shyla (Andy) Kurokowa and Shayna (Josh) of Billings MT; parents Bernard and Janice Long; brothers, Doug (Therese) Long, Steven Long, and David (Teresa) Long; sisters, Doreen (Noel Sansaver), of Wolf Point, Kathy (Ross) Rutherford of Bozeman and Terri (Shawn) Sansaver of Culbertson; and many nieces and one nephew. Also surviving is Brenda’s son Brian.
He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, three uncles, and one aunt.
