Mildred Lucille Marottek Cory, age 82, of Wolf Point, MT passed away peacefully at the Faith Lutheran Home on October 19, 2011 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.
She was born on February 2, 1929 to Frank and Edna Marottek. She attended Arthur school in Richland County, graduating from Poplar High School. Mildred married Ellwood R. Cory in Wolf Point on April 23, 1957, and became the mother to two daughters. Ellwood died in 1963, and she remained faithful to his memory. She was a loving mother and wonderful seamstress, sewing much of her children’s clothing. She worked as a printer at the Herald News prior to her marriage. Following the death of her husband, she worked at Petrolane for 12 years. She was a bookkeeper at Camrud Motors, retiring after 14 years. After her retirement she became skilled at Swedish weaving, making many gifts for others. Retirement brought many joys such as having coffee with friends, visiting her children, and working on home improvements. She loved to garden, and was very proud of her well kept yard and home. She enjoyed African violets and kept beautiful houseplants. She was proud of her grandchildren. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Riverside Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ellwood; parents Frank and Edna Marottek; brothers, Frank Marottek, Jr. and Pete Marottek.
She leaves behind two daughters, Audrey (Kurt) Link of Washington and LuEllen (John) Brown of Utah. Her legacy is four grandchildren, Rev. Kelsy Brown of Virginia; Cory Brown of New York; Meagan Link and Jessa Link of Washington. Also surviving are two sisters, Della Colgan of Poplar and Betty Borden of Charlo, and many nieces and nephews. She had many special friends including Pam Galster, who provided many hours of service to her. Her family is grateful to the nurses, aides, and staff at Faith Lutheran Home where Mildred resided for the last few years of her life.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service honoring her life will be announced at a later date pending the completion of the arragements. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in her memory my be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point are appreciated.
