Milton Dale Longee, age 45, of Poplar, MT passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Billings Clinic.
Milton, the son of Alfred Carroll Longee and Charity Jones, was born March 18, 1965 in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Frazer High School and was a star basketball player in 1983-1984. He graduated 1984 as the class Salutatorian. After graduation, he attended Haskell Indian College in Kansas. Milton later returned home and attended the Fort Peck Community College studying auto mechanics.
Milton worked for the A&S Tribal Industries until it shut down in 1998. He loved to go fishing, play basketball, and generally hang out with family and friends. He enjoyed powwows, and Indian music. Milton valued his friendships and his love for his family.
Milton spent 6 years living in Whitewater, MT before returning to the Poplar and Frazer areas where he spent the rest of his life.
He is survived by his children, Trisha P. Longee and Alfred C. Longee, both of Brockton, MT; sisters, Diana Rose (Francis) Longee and children of Poplar, Orla Jean (Jeremiah) Longee and children of Poplar, Patricia Ann Dubray and children of Minot, ND, and Sherlene (Harold) Gleed of Frazer; aunts, Mary Rose (Dave) Kholman of Williston, ND, Hazel E. Longee of Bellevue, NE, Mildred Longee and family of Poplar, Verlynn Longee and family of Wapato, WA, Melda Gone of Poplar; uncle, Joe Jones of Oswego, MT; cousins, Medford Jones and family of Dodson, MT, Warren “Todd” Jones and family of Frazer, Clifford Jones, Elton Jones both of Poplar, and Faron Jones of Wolf Point.
Milton is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Charity Longee; one brother, Elliot N. Longee; paternal grandparents, Elsie Lone and William Longee; maternal grandparents, Catherine and Stephan Jones Sr.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 14 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Poplar.
