Morris LaVerdure 88 of Poplar, MT Passed away peacefully surrounded by his Family on April 28, 2015 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Morris was the Eldest son of Horace Laverdure and Eliza King Laverdure. He grew up in the Comertown and Plentywood area helping his mother on the farm. When he was 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Sanshaw Bay for three years during World War II. When he returned to Plentywood he continued to farm. He later worked on the Roads and this is where he met his wife Louise.
Morris and Louise Owned and operated the L & M Cleaners for many years serving Wolf Point, Poplar, Glasgow, Scobey and Plentywood . Morris also served on the Poplar Volunteer Fire Dept. In 1963 he won the scraggliest beard contest in Laurel Montana he was very proud of that and never grew another beard ever.
In later years Morris and Louise moved to Hamilton, Mt returning to Wolf Point when Louise became ill.
Morris loved to go hunting and would pack into the mountains on horseback with his son Dennis .He also enjoyed boating One of his favorite pastimes was playing penny rummy with his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease people. He loved to go to breakfast either at the Sherman or old town grill
Morris was preceded in death by his Wife Louise, his parents, His Sisters Agnes, Irene and Nora. One brother Marcell . He is survived by one Sister Gertrude Witchen, his sons Cloyd(Skip) Laverdure, Richard Laverdure and Dennis (Sarah) Thompson, Special Grandsons Richard(Lori) Thibodo whom he raised. numerous grandchildren. Three Nephews, Tony and George Witchen and Max Hagadone, Five Nieces Audrey Kemp, Pat Rall, Bev Tuxell, Noreen Hohman and Phylliss Guenthner. Two Very Special grandchildren, Bradly and Catheran LaVerdure.
