Morris Robert Olson, Sr. passed away on Saturday, January 28 th at Poplar Hospital with his family by his side. Robert (RO) was born on March 9, 1952 to Raquel Young and William Goatie Sears at the Poplar Hospital. Dad was raised by his grandma Jenny Lester along with his older sister Julia and two young brothers, Levi and Kenny. Dad attended Chilocco Indian Boarding School, he played basketball for them. Dad also played Independent basketball. Dad liked to throw horseshoes with his buddies and relatives, he also liked to play horseshoes with his best friend Alfred Ironbear, Sr. while having a cold one. Dad liked to ride around and listen to 60’s, 70’s music. Dad liked to watch football, especially the Denver Broncos and visit with whoever came over to watch with him. He liked to laugh and tease and have a good time. He married Phyllis GreyBear on March 12, 2004. She passed on to the Spirit world on Feb. 29, 2016. They are both together again now.
Dad is survived by his sons, Myron Olson, Sr. Robbie Olson, Les Ogle, Mike (Danelle) Olson; his daughters, Judith (James) Olson, Kelly Ann GreyBear, Cerise GreyBear, Jordan GreyBear; his sisters Julia Young, Jonelle (Todd) White; his brothers, Keith Olson, Sr., Irvin Olson, Sr., Lester Menz, Sr., Curtis Menz, Sr.; two aunts Margaret Hapa, Yvette Todd; sisters-in-law, Judy GreyBear, Lorraine GreyBear from Fort Totten, ND, Vivian GreyBear from Copper Center, Alaska and Margaret Olson; adopted sisters Verbena Savior , Verlynn Longee, Wilma Longee, Kenda Martell, he raised two grandkids Lincoln GreyBear, Phyllis (Pretty) GreyBear. He is also survived by many cousin, nephews, nieces, grandkids, great grandkids and descendants from Daniel Lester, Susan Lester, Clayton Lester, Helen Lester families.
Dad is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his mom Raquel; father William; grandma Jenny Lester; brothers Levi and Kenny; nephews Terry Olson, Tyson Olson, Troy Olson; niece Teresa Olson; best friend Alfred Ironbear, Sr.; granddaughters Charlyn Carpentier, Kenzley Olson; aunties and uncles, and many other relatives too numerous to mention.
