Myrtle Vine, age 98, of Circle, Montana and formerly of Vida, Montana passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle.
Myrtle Caroline Stalheim was born April 15, 1910 in Granville, North Dakota the daughter of Hans and Caroline (Rognaldson) Stalheim. She was baptized Lutheran. In 1913, she moved with her parents to the Sand Creek Community where she grew up and attended Cole School.
Myrtle married Vern L Vine on September 7, 1929 in Sidney, Montana and they made their home in Elk River, Idaho. They later moved to Vida where Vern farmed.
Myrtle was an excellent homemaker caring for her husband and family. Her home was always open to friends and visitors. She loved her garden, yard and flowers. She enjoyed the wildlife outdoors and fishing. She was diligent at housework and liked to embroidery, crochet and sew. Her family was her joy and especially her grandchildren.
Myrtle is survived by two sons, Thomas V. (Mary) Vine of Dutton, MT and Merle L. (Ann) Vine of Circle; 9 grandchildren, Jerry Vine, Scott (Heide) Vine, Diane (Tom) White, Denise (Joel) Haynie, Debbie (Pete) Sokoloski, Kyle Vine, Kevin Vine, Christopher Vine, Carey (J.R.) Chapman; 9 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Charmayne, Isabella, Devin, Riley, Shelby, Brad, Kassidy, Collin, Conner, Keenan and Ashlynn; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Annie) Olson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, in 1992, a son Harold in 2008, four brothers, Clarence Stalheim, Lawrence Stalheim, Omar Stalheim, Harry Stalheim, and a sister, Bernie Vine.
Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2008 and Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery south of Vida.
