Nadine May Lund Long was born to Nels and Anita Hillestead Lund of the Volt Community on May 10, 1926 and passed away May 19, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, MT. She was educated in the rural community and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1943 later working at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
In December 1944 she traveled, by train, to Topeka Kansas and married Leonard “Bud” Long. They returned to Wolf Point following the end of World War II and began a farming/ranching career in McCone County.
Nadine “Mom” will be remembered by most as the friendly receptionist who loved her job at First Community Bank in Wolf Point. Her children will remember that she could kill a rattlesnake by throwing rocks at it, stir up a batch of doughnuts when she saw company coming, wring the neck of a pheasant, make venison taste like beef and taught herself to play the accordion. She read to them at night and taught each that Jesus was their personal Savior. There was never any doubt.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud; sisters Avis, Francis and Maxine; and brothers Earl, Zane, Russell, Lloyd and Robert. Surviving are her children, Linda (Bert) Twitchell, Clint (Arlyss) Long, Annie (Dave) Block, Jeanette (Curt) Loucks and Ken (Dawn) Long. Grandchildren include; Janice Hallinan, Cathy Hintz, Shawn Long, Angie Schmidt, Jason Twitchell, Joshua Graveley, Sally McDuffee, Judd Long, Adam Graveley, Garrett Long, Joe Twitchell and Ashley Fleming along with 14 great grandchildren and a special cat Gracie.
Upon her request cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Wolf Point on June 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore.
