Nancy May Clincher Eagle, age 48, passed away on February 6 2008, following years of suffering the fatal effects of schleroderma and lupus. Praise the Lord, for she no longer has to fight the pain and she is finally at peace.
Nancy was born on May 10, 1959 to Silas and Mercy Clincher in Poplar. She was raised by her grandparents, Carl & Nettie Walking Eagle. She attended school in Poplar.
She liked to fancy shawl dance in her younger years with her high school classmates Ilona Jo Youpee & Verna Red Bear. Nancy was an Oil Discovery Celebration Princess Attendant.
Nancy’s passion for creating many articles was an art. Many people came to her because of the quality of work.
She was employed at the Highway Safety Program and BIA Roads Department in early years.
She loved to visit and made many special friends throughout her life that became more like brothers & sisters for her.
In September 2004, Nancy was united in marriage to Harold Eagle and they made their home in Poplar.
Nancy is survived by her husband Harold, daughter Carly Sioux (Eugene) Stump of Frazer and grandchildren Kylee, Kody, KJ Stump, a special granddaughter she was helping to raise Lexie-lane Longee. Stepmother Roberta Clincher of Laurel, brothers Stephen Clincher of Poplar, Ronnie Clincher of Butte, Barry Beach of Deer Lodge, Bradley Beach, Los Vegas, NV, sisters Anabelle Weston, Pine Ridge, SD, Carol (John) Clincher, Bonnie (Herman) Red Elk, Marian (Bruce) Montclair all of Poplar, Barbara (Steve) Salinda of Hawthorne, CA.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews who she had a hand in raising, Jo’e & Robin Youngman, Kristofer Boyd, Clifford Country, Vern, Char & Randy Red Elk, Louis, Silas, John & Thomas Montclair, Ashley Clincher and Christian Clincher, adopted nephews Cory, Nelson & “Bug” Olney. Also, Nancy has many extended family and relatives including aunts Marie Summers and Evelyn Smith, first cousins, the Hollow Horns, Duboise, Longee and Perry as well as from the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota.
Friends that she took as adopted sisters are Doreen Ferguson, Dian Richardson, Ilona Jo Wilson, Verna Red Bear, Brenda Drum, Joanne Steele, Jewel Ogle, Sonya Garfield, Connie Smith, Karen Smoker and Roberta Archdale, adopted brother Victor (Barb) Perry and Faye Perry, nieces LeeAnn, Lisa, and Vikki Perry and Families, and adopted brother Sherman Boxer of Denver, CO.
A wake will be held Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Poplar Cultural Center with a prayer service at 7 pm. Funeral services for Nancy will be Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 2 pm at the Poplar Cultural Center with Pastor Stanley Hollow Horn Jr. officiating.
Nancy accepted Jesus Christ as her savior early on in life, so we can be at peace knowing she was welcomed into eternity.
