Nelle Lois Bridges

Nelle Lois Bridges, 84, of Scobey, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Daniels Memorial Hospital. She was the last of twelve children born to Cora and Jasper Parsley on December 26, 1924 in the Prairie Elk Community, south of Wolf Point.

On April 8, 1950 she married the love of her life, Clyde Bridges. They had 40 years together until his death January 3, 1991. In her early years she worked at her mother’s café, during WWII she worked at Camp Roberts in California, and in the 60’s she and Clyde moved to the family ranch north of Wolf Point where she assumed such duties as mowing hay, checking cows, shooting gophers, feeding large groups of people, and hosting card games with the neighbors in the winter. She was an excellent cook, produced works of art with her needlepoint, knit and crocheted sweaters, afghans, Christmas stockings and more for her children and grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to country western music.

She is survived by her children: Dan Bridges of Great Falls, Donna Wallace (Bill) of Helena, Paula Jensen (Mike) of Scobey, Greg Bridges (Connie) of Wolf Point, and Terri Baker of Fort Benton. In addition to her children she is survived by grandchildren, Jeff Bridges, Matthew Bridges, Heidi Wallace, Peter Wallace, Sarah Allen, Dodge Wallace, Shelley Buer, Suzie Costin, Amos Bridges, Abby Reum, Skyler Bridges, Ivy Bridges, Lindsay Baker, Regan Fleming, Wyatt Zahradka; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, all of her siblings, and granddaughter’s Wendy Bridges and Stacey Jensen.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM at Greenwood Cemetery on October 18, 2009 in Wolf Point. Cremation has taken place. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. A reception will follow at the Sherman Inn.
