Oliver William Davis Sr., “Kuda Mani (Shoots Walking)” was born on March 9, 1959 in Lewistown, Montana, to Bernadine Clark and Oliver Simon Davis. After our Mom’s marriage ended, our Mom went to nursing school in Helena, Montana. She met and married Laramie Wallace Sr. and they made their home on a ranch, south of Helena, where Oliver and his siblings were raised. Oliver attended elementary school at Montana City. Oliver graduated from Helena High School in 1978. Throughout these early years, Oliver and his brother, Randy, went back forth from Helena and Frazer, between the ranch and Grandpa Walter and Grandma Nellie Clark’s house in Frazer.

While living on the ranch, Oliver had a passion to learn about fixing cars, welding, ranching, doing handy man jobs. His first job was a postal job at the State Capitol in Helena. Oliver and a friend did some traveling and sightseeing, eventually moving to Phoenix, Arizona. In 1988, Oliver became a firefighter and went on a fire at Yellowstone National Park, to which he was very proud that he was one of the firefighters of that fire, which later was name “The fire of 88”

Oliver had a role in the movie “Gray Eagle” where he played a Shoshone warrior which was filmed on location in Helena, Montana.

Oliver moved to Frazer one summer to stay with Grandma and decided to attend Fort Peck Community College where he finished with a degree in Auto Body.

Oliver started working for The Body Shop in Poplar and worked there for years. He decided to take a break from that work, and became a Fish and Game Warden, working on the Swift Fox project. Oliver enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in this work, always looking forward to going out and observing the wildlife. Oliver also worked for various other auto body shops. At the time of his death, Oliver was a CHR for the Fort Peck Tribes.

Oliver met Karla Dubois in 1982 and their son, Oliver Jr. (Obbie) was born in 1988.

In 1991, Oliver met Ione Headdress and their son, Aaron (99%) was born in 1994. Along with this relationship, he helped raise Ione’s children, Amber and Alex. He later became “Grandpa” to Amber’s children, Halle, Austin, Noah, Sherman and Ronyn.

Oliver loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed watching movies every Sunday with Obbie. He enjoyed visiting with his nephews and nieces. He was a very devoted uncle to his niece, Winona, always obeying her orders and requests. They shared a special bond. Walter was his favorite nephew because they shared the same birthday.

Oliver was a champion Dart player. In 2011, his dart team won State. In 2012, Oliver, Duane Hamilton, Chris Curless, and late Larry Leddige. placed 9 th out of 168 teams at the International Dart Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.
