Orlando Joshua Hale, born on November 23, 1998 started his journey home June 29, 2024. Indian name Little Thunder Walking, given to him by his uncle Chad Hernandez.
Orlando was raised in Billings, MT, Poplar and Wolf Point, MT. He enjoyed horseshoes which he became a pro. He graduated Poplar High School, then worked at the Fort Peck Community College and attended classes there. He also worked at Family Dollar. He loved to read books, play Super Smash Bros with the bros, enjoyed BBQs, powwows, fishing, walking, and listening to music. Orlando was adopted by his grandmother, Mavis Hernandez. His childhood friend, Derek.
Orlando is survived by his mother, Margaret (Ron) Starr; siblings, Damon Menz, Artie Crazy Bull Menz, Lance, Mason, Karmen, Mabel, Jessi Menz all of Poplar; aunts, uncles, Robyn Hernandez, Elayne Scott, Priscilla Jones, Anita Hale, Michelle Aims Back of North Dakota; Papa Keith (Sadie) Olson Sr. of Poplar; grandpa, Eugene Hale Sr. of North Dakota; numerous relatives to mention. Sorry if forgotten, he has his Hale family in North Dakota on his father’s side that I haven’t met/known.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Mavis Hernandez; father, Eugene Hale Jr.; uncle, Chad Hernandez III; grandma, Midge Longee; and other too numerous to mention.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
