Paul Milo Smith, age 54, of Poplar, MT, died suddenly from cancer on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, MT.
Paul was born January 15, 1956 in Poplar to Harold and Ruth Smith. Growing up on the Fort Peck Reservation, he enjoyed many of the perks of outdoor life. He hunted whitetails, fished the Missouri and found many arrowheads and shed horns.
Paul helped out with the family farm in his younger years which inspired his passion for gardening in his later years. He became known for his garden tomatoes and colorful four o’clock flowers. Paul worked as a crab fisherman in Alaska, and a seismographer in and around the country. He finally made his way back home and worked in the oil fields up until a week before his death.
A passionate cook and gracious host, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. They ate much and laughed often. Paul enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting a fourth.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Allen) Spotted Bull and grandson, Rollen; his son, Burdett (Lisa) Smith and granddaughters, Alex and MacKenzie; daughter, Savanah (Vinnie) Webb; their mother, Cindy Smith; his partner, Lynn Gillis; his sisters, Ardis (Jeff) Cecil, Vicki (Loren) Bisbee and Denise (Susie) Smith; his brother, Johnnie (Christy) Yellow Robe; his good friends, Mike Crow, Charlie Pribbernow, Dun O’Connor, Ward Smith and nephew, Michael Prescott; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
