Pauline O’Connor, age 93, of Poplar, Montana passed away December 17, 2008, in Clancy, MT., at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Stan and Doreen Steen.
Her life began April 30, 1915 in a sod home north of Scobey, MT. She was the sixth of eleven children born to John & Rose Tkachyk. She was the last surviving member of her family.
When she was 21 Pauline moved to Poplar and worked as a waitress in Jensens Café. She met James O’Connor in Poplar & they were married June 1, 1939 in Glasgow, MT. They farmed, ranched & raised their family on the ranch they built north of Poplar. They shared each others life and love for 63 years until Jim’s death on November 15, 2002.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband James, her son, David, two grandsons, her parents and all her brothers & sisters.
Survivors include four children: Doreen Steen and husband Stan of Clancy, MT., Douglas and wife Mary of Clarkston, WA., D’Et Otis and husband Duane of Great Falls, MT., Dun Alan & wife Faith, who operate the ranch north of Poplar, sixteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Pauline dedicated her life to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the fall of 1960. Friends and relatives fondly recall her 45 years of faithful service as a preacher and teacher of the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom. She appreciated and loved all her spiritual brothers and sisters, especially in the congregation in Wolf Point, where she began her preaching activity, then Billings, Great Falls and Helena in her later years.
At every opportunity she would spend time sharing the truths of the Bible with all who listened. She always encouraged them to worship their creator and return his love and imitate the peaceful attributes of her God. Her gracious attitude and love for Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ were fine examples to all who knew her.
She leaves this loving, faithful legacy as she sleeps and awaits the resurrection back to a cleansed earth promised at John 5:25, 28, 29.
